Get to know royal jelly: how the bees make it, how we produce it in our apiaries, and what scientific studies say about it. Then choose your honey and how much royal jelly you want, and we will send it chilled for you to mix yourself, or mix it for you.

Royal jelly is a creamy, white-to-yellowish substance with a sour taste, secreted by glands in the heads of young worker bees (the hypopharyngeal and mandibular glands). All larvae are fed by the nurse bees in their first days, but the larva that will become a queen receives royal jelly in larger amounts and higher quality, and the queen keeps feeding on it all her life.
This difference in food alone is what turns the same larva into a queen instead of an ordinary bee: she grows bigger and lives up to 5 years while an ordinary bee lives about 45 days in the active season, and she lays nearly 2500 eggs a day.
Producing royal jelly is one of the hardest and most precise jobs a beekeeper does, which is why it is measured by the gram and is the most expensive hive product. These are the steps as we follow them in our apiaries:

We move 12–18-hour-old larvae with a fine tool into artificial queen cups fixed on bars inside a special frame.

We place the frame in a strong hive full of nurse bees, which treat the larvae as future queens and fill the cups with royal jelly.

After three days we take the frame out of the hive with the cups full of royal jelly, before the larvae grow.

In a clean room with sterile gloves, we open each cup and remove the larva with fine tweezers.

We collect the royal jelly from each cup with a small special spoon; each cup gives a very small amount.

We pack it by weight and print the production date on every pot, then freeze it straight away until it is mixed or delivered to you.
Here we gathered what systematic reviews and clinical trials in humans have found. Most of these studies are small and short and used royal jelly capsules, so we show the strength of the evidence for each benefit clearly.
Royal jelly is one of the hive products best known for fertility, and many of our customers ask for it for this reason. A review of animal studies found improvements in sperm count, motility and vitality, and an early clinical study of 54 couples (where the husband had low sperm motility) recorded a pregnancy rate of 33% with royal jelly compared with 41% with artificial insemination, with no clear statistical difference between them.
An analysis of six clinical trials with 356 people found that royal jelly raised total antioxidant capacity in the blood and lowered a marker of oxidation (MDA).
No clear effect was seen on the inflammation marker CRP in this analysis. Doses used were 1–5 g a day for 4–8 weeks. [3]
An analysis of six trials found lower total cholesterol, and a trial in 60 overweight adults recorded a drop of about 6.7% after 8 weeks.
An analysis of ten trials found a small drop in fasting blood sugar (about 4 mg/dL) in trials lasting 8 weeks or more.
A randomised trial in 42 postmenopausal women (800 mg a day for 12 weeks) recorded improvements in anxiety and back pain compared with placebo.
Other symptoms did not differ from the control group, and the trial was small and funded by a manufacturer. [8]
An analysis of ten trials with 512 people found no overall effect on weight or body mass index.
A small drop appeared only in the group taking doses under 3 g a day, with weak evidence. [9]
Lab and animal studies point to antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory activity, linked to royal jelly proteins and the acid 10-HDA.
